SnowRunner: Best Off-road Simulation Game?
- Imagine being stuck in the middle of a mountain road, wheels of my truck roll around because of mud that flooded them, and as long as I wondered during moments like these, is playing this game and reviewing it worth it?
The more you try to get out of the mud and fight this, the worse the situation will be. Also, I can't get myself out because the closest tree or something I can stick to is far away. But somehow, I always managed to get off the rough road, sometimes because of luck, and sometimes I don't know how. When this happens, you will feel the wonderful feeling of victory, but this will not last long as you will hang again on another path because of the game environment that wants to kill you with mud and snow.
The pleasure of driving (especially from the first person) and overcoming these challenges made me continue this tiring journey. SnowRunner sometimes wants you to fail, which makes winning food delicious in stages. This experience that you will live in will despair, annoyance, and anger when you lose control of your truck or slide down an ice path, but this experience is worth it.
In the beginning, the game will explain its basics, from starting the engine and using the brakes to using a four-wheel-drive that consumes more fuel but helps you get out of the mud quickly. After completing the training, you will be able to roam the open world the way you want it. SnowRunner game map is vast and contains a lot of tasks that you can complete in any order. These tasks differ from delivering wood and steel to help finish bridges, find a missing scientific team on top of a snowy mountain, or pull an oil tanker from a swamp.
When you finish your tasks you will get a currency that can spend on buying new trucks or allocating your current truck, which allows you to go to more challenging places and this means that you will be able to get more money - the more difficult the task, the more profits you get. If you play for a long time, you will be able to build a fleet of trucks in your garage, and then you will be ready to handle whatever nature throws at you.
There are three different game areas, each with its unique terrain and atmosphere. You will start with Michigan County, which is filled with autumn woods and mountain paths. Various events, such as the region being severely flooded, means that the mud is becoming ubiquitous, and you must deliver supplies to the isolated citizens.
The second area is Alaska that adds SnowRunner white style, and that will throw everything terrible for you in winter like deep drifts, snow lakes, and endless glides. I think that the snowy terrain is the most challenging game that will make you feel a nervous breakdown, especially when you lose control of the truck on ice, the game also warns you about this subject when you first arrive in the area.
The last region is Timor, a rugged peninsula in the far north of Russia that is filled with dense forests, swamps, dirt roads, and a dark, dark sky that you will never stop looking at. The aesthetics of nature, colors, and graphics will accompany you everywhere you go in SnowRunner, which brings the experience closer to realism and the enjoyment of the eyes.
You can switch vehicles in SnowRunner, and I think this is a very cool game feature. If your truck gets stuck, you can switch to another car in your garage and use the crane to pull it out of that place. Also, the game supports cooperative online mode. If a friend you know plays the game, he can come to your rescue, but don't be surprised if the rescue vehicle gets stuck in the same damn place. If you are stuck to a point where you can't be saved, you can start over from your garage, but then again, you will have to drive to the top of the mountain you were, and believe me, this is the last thing you want to do.
The game may not bring you the best, but it is a simulation game, which awaits you when you play it. The gameplay is fun and highly realistic, but it will undoubtedly provide an enjoyable experience, especially if you are a fan of trucks and bumpy roads. I am not a fan of these things, but I recommend SnowRunner because it exceeded my expectations.
